Secretary Vilsack Announces Cotton Board Appointments

Washington - Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced the appointment of Carlos Moore of Naples, Florida and John Mathews of Pennington, New Jersey to the Cotton Board.

“These appointees have important roles on the Cotton Board and I am confident that the cotton industry will be well served by them," Vilsack said

Carlos F. J. Moore, Naples, Fla., is appointed to importer position number 11 with a term expiring on Dec. 31, 2011.

John “Jack" E. Mathews, Pennington, N.J., is appointed to member position 15 with a term expiring on Dec. 31, 2012.

The cotton research and promotion program is designed to advance the position of cotton in the marketplace. It is funded by mandatory assessments on all domestically produced cotton and imports of foreign-produced cotton and cotton-containing products, and is authorized by the Cotton Research and Promotion Act of 1966. USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service oversees operations of the Board.
