Rapid City Man Convicted Of Assaulting A Park Ranger

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City man convicted of Assault on a Federal Officer was sentenced on Jan. 3, 2013, by U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy. Cody Gallagher, age 25, was sentenced to 2 years’ probation with 4 months in home confinement and

ordered to pay $25 to the victims’ assistance fund.

In July 2012, at Horsethief Lake Campground, Gallagher assaulted a park ranger who was attempting to make Gallagher vacate the area. He pleaded guilty on Oct. 10, 2012.

This case was investigated by the Pennington County Sheriff's Office and the National park Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins prosecuted the case.
