BOISE - Douglas Todd Campbell, Jr., 33, of Meridian, Idaho, pleaded guilty today in United States District Court to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced.
According to court documents and Campbell’s admission in court, on Jan. 10, 2012, Campbell, then being an unlawful user of a controlled substance, knowingly possessed a Springfield.45 firearm and five rounds of.45 ammunition.
The charge of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person is punishable by up to ten years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, and at least three years of supervised release.
Sentencing is set for April 22, 2013, before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge at the federal courthouse in Boise.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and is being prosecuted by the Special Assistant U.S. Attorney hired by the Treasure Valley Partnership and the State of Idaho to address gang crimes. The Treasure Valley Partnership is comprised of a group of elected officials in southwest Idaho dedicated to regional coordination, cooperation, and collaboration on creating coherent regional growth.
