Eagle Butte Man Pleads Guilty To Third Degree Burglary

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Brian One Feather, age 31, of Eagle Butte, South Dakota, appeared before U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on Sept. 12, 2013, and pled guilty to the Indictment that charged him with Third Degree Burglary.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is 5 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and a $100 assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

The conviction is the result of a June 2012 break-in at the Howard V. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center in Eagle Butte. One Feather and a co-defendant broke into several buildings and took approximately $37,420 worth of personal property belonging to the Cultural Heritage Center.

The investigation was conducted by the Cheyenne River Sioux Law Enforcement Division. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikal Hanson.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for Nov. 26, 2013.

One Feather was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending sentencing.
