Ronald Stone, 29, of Philadelphia, PA, was charged today by superseding indictment with three robberies or attempted robberies at various Cosi stores, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. Stone was added to an indictment charging James Pray. According to the indictment, on Dec. 3, 2013, Stone and Pray robbed the Cosi store, at 235 S. 15th Street in Philadelphia; on December 9, 2013, they allegedly attempted to rob the Cosi at 140 S. 36th Street in Philadelphia; and on Dec. 24, 2013, they allegedly robbed the Cosi, at 235 S. 15th Street in Philadelphia. The pair is also charged with using a handgun during the two robberies.
If convicted,each defendant faces a mandatory minimum of 32 years in prison with a maximum sentence of life, as well as five years of supervised release, a substantial fine, a special assessment, restitution, and forfeiture of the firearm and ammunition.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Philadelphia Police Department, and the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ewald Zittlau.
An Indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
