Fairview Heights Man Sentenced For Firearm Offense

The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced today that Quinten M. Allen, 26, of Fairview Heights, was sentenced in the federal district court in East St. Louis on April 7, 2014, on the charge of being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Chief District Judge David R. Herndon sentenced Allen to fifteen months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered Allen to pay a fine of $250 and a special assessment of $100.

On February 5, 2013, in East St. Louis, Allen knowingly possessed a firearm - one SCCY, model CPX-1, 9 mm. caliber, semi-automatic pistol with ten (10) rounds of 9 mm. caliber ammunition. Previously on July 26, 2012, Allen was convicted of the felony offense of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Circuit Court of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit in St. Clair County, Illinois.

The case was investigated by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Liam Coonan.
