St. Louis, MO - CHRISTOPHER CHANNEL was sentenced to 254 months in prison on charges of distribution of cocaine base and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime, resulting in the killing of Carrie Henderson-Shaw.
According to court documents, in the early morning hours of Jan. 3, 2010, Channel sold cocaine base to Henderson-Shaw at a local gas station located on South Broadway in the City of St. Louis, Missouri. Channel was in possession of a firearm during the drug transaction. After pulling off of the gas station lot, Henderson-Shaw suffered two gunshot wounds, ultimately resulting in her death, while her vehicle approached the entrance ramp to Interstate 55 from 7th Street. Channel acknowledged that Henderson-Shaw was shot dead as a result of the drug transaction.
Channel pled guilty in July 2014, to the above federal charges and appeared today for sentencing before United States District Court Judge Carol E. Jackson.
This case was investigated the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
