Illegal Immigrant was Deported After Felony Drug Conviction
CHARLESTON, W. Va. - United States Attorney Booth Goodwin announced that Jorge Leonardo Reyes-Figueroa, 26, from Honduras was sentenced today in federal court in Charleston to two and a half years in prison for illegal reentry into the United States following deportation. He also faces administrative deportation after being released from prison.
In 2010, Reyes-Figueroa, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, was convicted in Adams County, Colorado of a felony drug offense involving heroin distribution. Following the criminal conviction, Reyes-Figueroa was deported to Honduras. Sometime thereafter, Reyes-Figueroa illegally reentered the United States. In May of 2014, officers with the West Virginia State Police found Reyes-Figueroa living in Ripley, West Virginia.
The West Virginia State Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security conducted theinvestigation. Assistant United States Attorney Erik S. Goes is prosecuting the matter on behalf of the United States of America.
