Huntington, W.Va. - Joshua Lee, age 31, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, was sentenced today in federal court in Huntington to six months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Lee previously pled guilty in August of 2014, admitting that on Jan. 23, 2013, he sold heroin to a confidential informant working with the West Virginia State Police. The drug deal took place at a home in Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia. Lee admitted that he had been involved in distributing heroin with others in the area from the summer of 2012 until March of 2013.
This case was prosecuted as part of an ongoing effort led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs and opiates. The United States Attorney’s Office, joined by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, is committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets, and curtailing the spread of opiate painkillers and heroin in communities across the Southern District.
