Beckley, W.Va. - United States Attorney Booth Goodwin announced today that a White Sulphur Springs woman was sentenced to federal prison for possession with intent to distribute heroin. United States District Judge Irene C. Berger sentenced Amanda Nicole Canaday, 27, to 18 months in prison. Canaday pled guilty in July of 2014, admitting that on Aug. 31, 2013, she possessed 56 packets of heroin that she intended to sell. She stored the heroin in her apartment in White Sulphur Springs. She also admitted that she had been selling heroin for some time.
The case was investigated by the Greenbrier Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force under the Greenbrier Heroin and Pill Initiative, as part of an ongoing law enforcement effort led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the sale of heroin and the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs in the Southern District.
