ROCHESTER, N.Y.-- U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr., of the Western District of New York, announced that Jennifer Gilbert, 47, of Rochester, New York, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci to fraudulently obtaining a U.S. Passport by making false statements in the passport application. The maximum penalty for this charge is a term of imprisonment of 10 years and a fine of $250,000.
Assistant U.S. Attorney John J. Field, who is handling the matter, stated that Jennifer Gilbert applied for a passport in 2007 using the name and identification of another individual, Lena B.W. Years later, in May 2014, Lena B.W. applied for a passport for herself. Lena B.W.’s application triggered a review of the 2007 application that defendant had submitted, and resulted in defendant’s fraud being discovered.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 4, 2015, at 3:00 pm, before Judge Geraci.
This criminal complaint is the culmination of an investigation by Special Agents from the United States Department of State.
