Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth R. Moellering, who handled the case, stated that Jaszczak was formerly employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. Last December, the defendant discarded mail that had been entrusted to him for delivery. A concerned citizen reported Jaszczak to authorities after capturing him on video surveillance throwing mail into a garbage tote.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by Special Agents of The United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General, under the direction of Monica Weyler.
