Honduran National Pleads Guilty to Illegal Reentry

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced that JOSE ALEXANDER LOPEZ-LOPEZ, age 20, a citizen of Honduras, pled guilty today to a one-count indictment with illegal reentry of a removed alien.

According to court documents, LOPEZ-LOPEZ reentered the United States on or about Sept. 28, 2015, after having been previously deported on April 2, 2014. LOPEZ-LOPEZ faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two years, a maximum fine of $250,000, a maximum term of supervised release of one year, and a mandatory $100 special assessment. U.S. District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown set sentencing for Dec. 3, 2015.

U.S. Attorney Polite praised the work of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency in investigating this matter. Assistant U.S. Attorney Spiro G. Latsis is in charge of the prosecution.
