Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth R. Moellering, who handled the case, stated that Young, a former employee at the Erie County Department of Motor Vehicles, used his position as a Motor Vehicle Representative to solicit and accept bribes for his assistance in completing paperwork and passing permit examinations. At times, the defendant would provide the correct answers to individuals in advance of the permit test. After the applicant received Young’s assistance, Young would complete paperwork containing false information, including false permit test results, which would then be inputted into the DMV computer systems.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by Special Agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero, and Investigators from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, Division of Field Investigations.
