New Orleans Man Charged with Drug Distribution

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced that DELRONE MOORE, age 38, of New Orleans, was charged in a four-count Indictment Dec. 18, 2015, by a federal grand jury for charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and heroin and other drug charges.

According to the Indictment, on Dec. 16, 2015, MOORE possessed, with intent to distribute, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and 100 grams or more of heroin. MOORE is also charged with distribution of heroin on both Oct. 14, 2015, and Nov. 12, 2015. If convicted of the charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, the defendant will face a sentence of ten years to life imprisonment.

U.S. Attorney Polite reiterated that the indictment is merely an allegation and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

U.S. Attorney Polite praised the work of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Nicholas D. Moses is in charge of the prosecution.
