The Delaware Nation Economic Development Authority in Oklahoma City will receive a $2.6 million Economic Development Administration grant to rebuild the Greentech Center building and campus.
The American Rescue Plan's Indigenous Communities initiative provided the funding for this grant, according to a July 12 Department of Commerce news release.
“President Biden is committed to ensuring that Tribal communities are provided with the resources they need to diversify and grow their economies,” Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo said in the release. “This EDA project will support long-term economic development for the Delaware Nation, attracting new businesses to ensure a diverse regional economy.”
Local companies will be able to move to the new facility and grow their operations, adding to the number of local jobs, the release reported. Grantee projections estimate this EDA contribution is anticipated to provide 227 new jobs and $881,000 in private investment.
“The Economic Development Administration is dedicated to working with communities to support their locally-driven strategies to recover and rebuild from the pandemic,” Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Alejandra Y. Castillo said in the release. “This project will create new opportunities for business development, creating jobs and spurring private investment in the area.
