Jamestown Man Pleads Guilty To Transmitting Threatening Communication

BUFFALO, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today Michael Bush, 45, of Jamestown, NY, pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Court Judge Frank P. Geraci to transmitting communications containing threats to injure the person of another. The charge carries a maximum of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan T. Cullinane, who is handling the case, stated that on Jan. 2, 2015, and again on Feb. 26, 2016, Bush, a former Jamestown Police Officer, posted threats on Topix.com. The posts contained threats against Jamestown area law enforcement officers.

The plea is the culmination of an investigation by the Jamestown Police Department, under the direction of Chief Harry Snellings, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Adam S. Cohen.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 29, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. before Judge Geraci.
