U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite announced that WALLACE STOGNER, age 61, of Bogalusa; DANIELLE MEISNER, age 31, of Mandeville; and KAREN SMITH, age 57, of Slidell, pled guilty today to charges relating to illegal distribution of oxycodone pills. Oxycodone is a prescription-only Schedule II controlled substance and a highly addictive and abused opioid drug.
STOGNER pled guilty to two counts of illegal distribution of oxycodone, as charged in an Indictment filed last year, and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment. MEISNER and SMITH each pled guilty to a Superseding Bill of Information charging conspiracy to obtain controlled substances through misrepresentation and subterfuge, a crime which carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 4 years. All three defendants are scheduled for sentencing before U.S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt on November 9, 2016.
U.S. Attorney Polite praised the work of the DEA Tactical Diversion Squad in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Michael B. Redmann is in charge of the prosecution.
