BOISE - Jeffery Anthony Arguello, 47, of Boise, Idaho, was sentenced today to 105 months for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of a firearm, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill also sentenced Arguello to five years supervised release. Arguello pleaded guilty to the charges on Aug. 2, 2016.
According to the plea agreement, Arguello admitted that on Dec. 17, 2015, he knowingly possessed 61 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it to another person. Law enforcement located a 16 gauge Winchester shotgun, Model 12, in in the closet of Arguello’s bedroom. Under the mattress where Arguello was laying, law enforcement found a loaded JPC.40 caliber pistol, with one round in the chamber. Arguello admitted he knowingly possessed the JPC pistol. In the bedroom, investigators found another loaded magazine for the same firearm and a digital scale. Arguello was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a previous felony conviction for providing false information in acquisition of a firearm.
The case was investigated by the Boise Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with assistance from the Meridian Police Department.
