United States Attorney Randolph J. Seiler announced that a Pine Ridge, South Dakota, man convicted of Assault by Striking, Beating, or Wounding was sentenced on Oct. 28, 2016, by Chief Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court.
Rudolph Twiss, a/k/a Rudy Twiss, age 19, was sentenced to time served in custody, 1 year of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $25 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Twiss pleaded guilty to the charge on July 1, 2016.
The charge related to Twiss stabbing the male victim in the neck with a knife on Sept. 13, 2015, at Pine Ridge. The victim was transported to the hospital and received eight staples to his neck to close the wound.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan Poppen prosecuted the case.
