Rosebud Man Charged with Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance

United States Attorney Randolph J. Seiler announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.

Lloyd One Star, age 26, was indicted on November 9, 2016. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on Nov. 28, 2016, and pled not guilty to the Indictment.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 20 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.

The Indictment alleges that between Jan. 1, 2015, and March 7, 2016, One Star knowingly and intentionally distributed a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine. Also, on March 7, 2016, One Star and his co-defendant knowingly and intentionally possessed with intent to distribute said methamphetamine.

The charges are merely accusations and One Star is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges is prosecuting the case.

One Star was released on bond pending trial which has been set for Jan. 24, 2017.
