United States Attorney Randolph J. Seiler announced that a St. Francis, South Dakota, man charged with Assault by Striking, Beating, and Wounding pled guilty and was sentenced on Feb. 10, 2017, by U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno.
Ray Mcfarland, age 41, was sentenced to four days in custody, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $25.
Mcfarland was charged by criminal complaint on Jan. 20, 2017.
The conviction stemmed from an incident that took place on Jan. 19, 2017, when Mcfarland struck his girlfriend.
This investigation was conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson prosecuted the case.
Mcfarland was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
