The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the United States Attorneys on March 22, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Madison, Wis. - Jeffrey M. Anderson, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Eloy Flores-Zuniga, 31, a citizen of Mexico who resided in Fort Atkinson, Wis., was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge William Conley to 15 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States. Flores-Zuniga pleaded guilty to this offense on Dec. 12, 2016.

This was the defendant’s third federal conviction for illegally reentering the United States. In giving the defendant a 15-month sentence, Judge Conley indicated that the defendant had not been deterred by shorter sentences he had received in the past.

The charge against Flores-Zuniga was the result of an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy O’Shea.
