DAVENPORT, IA - On Aug. 29, 2017, Leroy Lynell Grandberry, 30, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced by Chief United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey to 36 months in prison for felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Kevin E. VanderSchel. Grandberry was ordered to serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment and to pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.
On April 24, 2017, Grandberry pleaded guilty to the offense and admitted on Aug. 27, 2016, he possessed a Bersa Thunder.380 caliber semi-automatic handgun while a passenger in a vehicle in Davenport. Grandberry was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a 2005 felony conviction from Scott County, Iowa.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Davenport Police Department conducted the investigation. This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
