JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - A resident of Altoona, Pa. has been sentenced in federal court to 40 months in prison, placed on supervised release for life, and required to register as a sex offender on his conviction of possession of child pornography, Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song announced today.

United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Timothy Hufford, 56, of Altoona, Pa.

According to information presented to the court, on Aug. 18, 2015, Hufford knowingly possessed pictures and videos in individual computer graphic files which were produced using prepubescent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Ms. Song commended the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police and Altoona Police Department for the investigation that led to the successful prosecution of Hufford.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
