Belmont County man sentenced for drug charge

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA - Phillip Weir, of Bridgeport, Ohio, was sentenced today to 51 months incarceration for distributing cocaine, United States Attorney Bill Powell announced.

Weir, age 32 pled guilty to one count of “Aiding and Abetting Distribution of Crack Cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school" in November 2017. Weir admitted to working with another to sell crack cocaine near Madison Elementary School in Wheeling, WV on Sept. 22, 2016.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Perri prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Ohio Valley Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated.

U. S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided.
