Indianapolis Man Sentenced To 120 Months In Prison

For Distribution Of Heroin

HAMMOND- Jermaine Johnson, 32, of Indianapolis, Indiana, was sentenced before Judge Jon E. DeGuilio on his plea of guilty to possessing with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin, announced U.S. Attorney Thomas L. Kirsch II.

Johnson was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment and 4 years of supervised release.

According to documents in this case, on Feb. 17, 2016 Johnson was the passenger in a car pulled over for speeding by the Indiana State Police. After detection of marijuana within the car, the car was searched and law enforcement found 3 bricks of heroin within the engine compartment weighing 784 grams along with over $84,000 in cash. Johnson admitted at the time that both the heroin and money were in his possession.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration/HIDTA Group and the Indiana State Police. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas McGrath.
