United States Attorney Joe Kelly announced an initial appearance before Magistrate Judge Cheryl R. Zwart was held today for Maurice J. Paola, age 23, of Las Vegas, Nevada. Paola was recently charged by criminal complaint with one count of interfering with flight crew members and attendants which occurred on or about Sept. 3, 2018. The penalty for the charged offense is a maximum of 20 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. Paola will next appear before Magistrate Judge Zwart at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, for a detention hearing.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
