Ridgeview Man Sentenced for Assault

United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced that a Ridgeview, South Dakota, man convicted of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon was sentenced on Dec. 17, 2018, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange.

William Fielder, Sr., age 55, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100.

Fielder was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 19, 2018. He pled guilty on Oct. 3, 2018.

The conviction stemmed from an incident on Nov. 19, 2017, when Fielder assaulted an individual with a hatchet, with the intent to cause bodily harm.

This case was investigated by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case.

Fielder was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
