RALEIGH, N.C. - A Greenville man was sentenced today to 42 months in prison for possessing a firearm as a felon.
According to court documents, Donnie Devon Adams, Jr., 36, was found in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun during the execution of a search warrant at his home. Greenville Police Officers obtained the search warrant as part of an investigation into a domestic violence incident where Adams allegedly fired a handgun at his girlfriend inside his home on Oct. 1, 2019. Adams had previously been convicted of Second Degree Murder in 2004 in Pitt County Superior Court.
Robert J. Higdon, Jr., U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina made the announcement after sentencing by Chief U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and the Greenville Police Department investigated the case and Assistant U.S. Attorney John Parris prosecuted the case.
