Convicted Armed Drug Trafficker Sentenced To 17 Months In Federal Prison For Illegal Re-Entry

Ocala, Florida - Senior United States Judge John Antoon II today sentenced Jose Manuel DeJesus-Mujica (41, Ocala) to 17 months in federal prison for illegal re-entry into the United States. DeJesus-Mujica had pleaded guilty on Feb. 28, 2020.

According to court documents and the evidence presented at sentencing, DeJesus-Mujica was convicted of trafficking in cocaine with a firearm in Kentucky on Feb. 21, 2003. He was deported from the United States on October 8, 2004. DeJesus-Mujica then illegally re-entered the United States at an unknown date, but no later than 2010, and continued to live in the United States until he was arrested on Dec. 17, 2019.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney William S. Hamilton.
