ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Bryan Bencomo Mendoza, 22, of Santa Fe, New Mexico pleaded guilty in federal court in Albuquerque on June 22 to an indictment charging him with residential burglary in Indian Country.
According to the indictment and other public court records, Mendoza committed this offense on the Pueblo of Pojoaque in Santa Fe County on June 21, 2018. Mendoza broke into the apartment of tribal members while they were at work. Mendoza stole a video game console and sold it to a store in Espanola, New Mexico
Mendoza is currently in custody pending sentencing. He faces up to three years in prison.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs investigated this case with assistance from the Pojoaque Tribal Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Spindle is prosecuting the case.
