Florida Man Pleads Guilty to Methamphetamine Offense

Gulfport, Miss. - A Florida man pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Darren J. LaMarca and Special Agent in Charge Jermicha Fomby of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to court records, on Feb. 24, 2021, law enforcement officers stopped a vehicle driven by Vincente Aguirre, 29, in Jackson County for a traffic violation. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of over 400 grams of methamphetamine.

Further investigation revealed that Aguirre had traveled to Texas from Florida to obtain the methamphetamine and was returning to Florida at the time of the traffic stop.

Aguirre will be sentenced on Jan. 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. He faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison. A federal district judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The FBI and the Ocean Springs Police Department investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Buckner is prosecuting the case.
