NEW ORLEANS - U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that DENZEL SHINE, age 24, of New Orleans, and RAHKEEN ROBERTS, age 24, of New Orleans, pled guilty on Feb. 23, 2022 to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(B) and 846.
According to court documents, SHINE and ROBERTS conspired with each other and others to distribute fentanyl from sometime prior to January 9, 2021 until Aug. 19, 2021. SHINE and ROBERTS face a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years, up to 40 years of imprisonment, up to $5,000,000 in fines, at least 4 years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.
This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan L. Shih is in charge of the prosecution.
