Markey Statement on SCOTUS Decision on Global Warming Emissions

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on June 19, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Following the 8-0 decision by the Supreme Court of the United States to uphold the authority of the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate heat-trapping emissions, Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), co-author of the only climate bill to have passed a body of Congress and the Ranking Member of the Natural Resources Committee, issued the following statement:

"This unanimous decision by the highest court in the land shows that the ideological attacks against the EPA and against climate change are completely misguided. The court has now re-affirmed that the EPA has the authority under the law to regulate emissions, and re-affirmed the underlying science behind that authority. It's time for the attacks on EPA and climate science to stop, and actions to reduce emissions to begin, before it's too late."
