BOEMRE/Coast Guard JIT Report Hearing Confirmed for October 13th

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on Oct. 4, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 4, 2011 - House Natural Resource Committee Chairman Doc Hastings announced today that Thursday’s Full Committee oversight hearing on the final report of the BOEMRE/U.S. Coast Guard Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been rescheduled and confirmed for Thursday, October 13th:

“After the Interior Department and the Coast Guard withdrew JIT investigator witnesses previously committed to testify before the Committee on September 23rd, I clearly stated the expectation that the Committee would hear from the two JIT Co-Chairs selected and appointed by the respective agencies for this important investigation. After direct communication by the Committee, the attendance has been confirmed for both Co-Chairs to testify on October 13th.

“This hearing provides an opportunity to hear directly from the investigators about their on-the-ground work and findings. Just as the Committee heard from the Co-Chairs of the President’s own Spill Commission, it’s important that we also hear from the Co-Chairs of the official JIT investigative report in order to get the full facts of what occurred."
