Washington, D.C. - Ranking Member Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) is proud to announce that Lora Snyder will be joining the House Natural Resources Committee Democratic staff on Feb. 12, as the lead on fisheries, oceans, and endangered species. She succeeds Matt Strickler, who recently left the Committee to serve as Virginia’s Secretary of Natural Resources.
“Lora is a fighter. She understands what’s at stake and is ready to help House Democrats defend our oceans and species," Grijalva said. “Lora is smart, experienced, and most important she is passionate about these issues. I’m thrilled that she’ll be joining our team and I look forward to working alongside her."
Ms. Snyder currently serves as a campaign director at Oceana, the largest international advocacy group working solely to protect the world’s oceans. While at Oceana she’s worked to defend the Magnuson Stevens Act, protect critical ocean habitats, minimize bycatch in U.S. fisheries, as well as raise awareness of the threats facing sharks and sea turtles. Prior to joining Oceana, Lora spent several years at a bipartisan consulting firm, specializing in energy, human rights and environmental issues, among others. Lora also served as the principal advisor to former EPA administrator Carol M. Browner, after Ms. Browner left the agency.
