WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Ranking Republican Rob Bishop (R-Utah) released the following statement regarding President Trump’s Executive Order on “Modernizing America’s Water Resource Management and Water Infrastructure". The EO establishes a Water Subcabinet, co-chaired by the Secretary of the Interior and the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, to promote efficient and effective coordination between agencies on key water projects. The Subcabinet will work toward water reliability and drought resistance, while keeping public health a top priority. Additionally, it will closely examine water issues that disproportionately affect low income, tribal, and minority communities. The EO also promotes the recruitment and training of a qualified and skilled water workforce.

“This administration continues to take critical steps toward promoting water infrastructure projects. This executive order will ensure protection against water shortages, access to clean drinking water, and improve processes of coordination between agencies. I look forward to more expedited solutions to water issues and the cutting of unnecessary red tape."
