WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Ranking Republican Rob Bishop (R-Utah) criticized the Democrats’ recently introduced Blue New Deal and touted Republican policy solutions to balance environmental stewardship with robust economic growth. The Democrat legislation would undermine American energy independence by implementing needless moratoriums on energy development, impose harmful red tape for ocean-based industries, and eliminate hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs.
“Predictably, House Democrats once again swung and missed. My colleagues on the other side of the aisle continue to pursue policies that position Russia and OPEC as sole providers in meeting global energy demand. This agenda will result in dirtier fuels being consumed in both developed and developing countries, huge job losses for American families, higher energy bills domestically, and a vast increase in global emissions. Alternatively, House Republicans have developed and advocated for policies to diversify domestic energy and natural resource development both onshore and offshore. It’s a red, white, and blue agenda to protect American jobs and U.S. energy affordability while also advancing environmental stewardship and sustained global emission reductions. The American people have a choice."
Republican Policy Solutions:
* American Energy First Act : This legislation would encourage efficient onshore and offshore production of renewable energy resources and promote economic growth and domestic energy security.
* : This legislation would require transparency and accountability in new energy proposals to ensure all citizens have equal access to affordable and reliable energy.
* : This bill would streamline the permitting process for geothermal energy projects, increasing our ability to produce clean energy.
* : This bill would increase production of wind, solar, and geothermal energy on public lands while also establishing a revenue sharing mechanism that ensures a fair return for states, counties, sportsmen, conservation and taxpayers.
