The deadline is Aug. 25 for applicants to submit concept papers for a $96 million funding opportunity supporting the decarbonizing of domestic transportation.
The goal is to decarbonize the domestic transportation sector by expanding eclectic vehicle charging accessibility, advancing innovation in electric drive components and materials and creating cleaner non-road vehicles, according to a July 21 Department of Energy news release.
“To strengthen our transportation sector to support our growing economy, DOE is investing in clean mobility options that will eliminate harmful emissions, reduce our reliance on volatile fossil fuels and cut energy costs,” U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said in the release. “Achieving President Biden’s climate goals will require expanding accessibility to electric vehicles for all drivers and modernizing vehicles that power the agricultural and construction industries.”
“More accessible EV charging stations. Better EV performance with more durable, reliable tech. Solutions to decarbonize other transportation, like trains & ships. Our $96M will invest in improving mobility & fighting climate change for all Americans,” the Department of Energy posted on Twitter.
The Fiscal Year 2022 Vehicle Technologies Office Program Wide Funding Opportunity Announcement requires applicants register with and submit application materials online through the Department of Energy's application portal. The deadline for full applications is Nov. 10, according to the release.
