Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement regarding the U.S. economy shrinking for a second consecutive quarter and the country jumping headfirst into a recession:
“This administration tried its damnedest to reinvent the definition of a recession at the 11th hour, but all it came up with was a garbled word salad that came back to bite it. Job creators and workers across the country are getting more salt poured into their economic wounds thanks to President Biden. Families are facing price increases—over $600 per child—for simple school supplies as their children are days away from returning to the classroom.
“Welcome to the Biden recession—the equivalent of an uninvited house guest who refuses to leave. No matter how many times President Biden is directed to reread his lines off the teleprompter, he cannot convince the American people that the country is on the right track.”
