Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner John Keys III today announced that Randy Feuerstein has been named Reclamation's Chief Information Officer. As Chief Information Officer, Feuerstein will oversee technology management (enterprise architecture, capital planning and investment), IT security management, information management, telecommunications management, inventory and asset management, IT infrastructure management and operations and IT strategic planning.
"Randy brings extensive experience to this position in Information Technology management to help Reclamation carry out its mission," said Keys. "His planning and program management background in Information Technology and his knowledge of Reclamation are a great asset."
Since February 2003, Feuerstein has served as Reclamation's Acting Chief Information Officer. Prior to that, Feuerstein was Deputy Chief Information Officer - Policy, Security and Planning from December 2001 through January 2003. In this position he was responsible for IT Policy within Reclamation, including IT Security, and IT Architecture and Planning. He also analyzed new legislation, regulations, and guidance for the CIO.
From 1997 to 2001, Feuerstein was the Manager, Planning and Program Management Group, Information Resources Division. Prior to that, he served as Chief, Denver/Washington Coordination Branch, Information Resources Division.
Feuerstein received his B.S. in Meteorology from Metropolitan State College in Denver in 1977 and holds a M.A. in Management from the University of Phoenix that he received in 1984. He and his wife, Becky, have three children and one grandchild.
