Reclamation Announces Next Negotiation Session on New Repayment Contracts for Central Valley Project's Friant Division

The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled a public session to negotiate new contracts with three existing long-term water service contractors, the city of Fresno, Gravelly Ford Water District, and Fresno County Waterworks No. 18, in the Friant Division of the Central Valley Project.

Reclamation has been directed to convert, by Dec. 31, 2010, the existing Friant Division long-term water service contracts to repayment contracts under mutually agreeable terms and conditions pursuant to the Reclamation Project Act of 1939 and the San Joaquin River Restoration Settlement Act. The converted contracts will have accelerated repayment provisions to make funds available for implementing the Settlement Act. The city of Fresno, Gravelly Ford Water District, and Fresno County Waterworks No. 18 have asked to convert their existing contracts.
