Reclamation Announces Temporary Closures on Seminoe Road

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on June 15, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

MILLS, Wyo. -- The Bureau of Reclamation will temporarily close a section of Seminoe Road. The location of the closure is west of Miracle Mile Bridge over the North Platte River below Kortes Dam, to just north of the North Red Hills entrance to Seminoe State Park.

"The temporary closures are necessary to facilitate the replacement of culverts crossing under the road. The culvert replacements are part of ongoing work to repair road damage caused by heavy rain events," said Carlie Ronca, Wyoming Area Manager.

The road is maintained by Reclamation for employee use associated with operation and maintenance of Seminoe and Kortes dams and power plants. Although the road is not maintained for public traffic, the road is normally open to the public for travel.

Weather permitting, the road will be closed from 7:00 am on Tuesday through 12:00 noon on Thursday according to the following schedule:

Tuesday June 28 through Thursday June 30

Tuesday July 12 through Thursday July 14

Tuesday July 26 through Thursday July 28

Tuesday August 9 through Thursday August 11

Tuesday August 16 through Thursday August 18

Tuesday August 30 through Thursday September 1

Seminoe State Park remains open and accessible from the south via Carbon County Road 351 from Sinclair. The Miracle Mile recreation area is accessible via the Kortes Road from the north and the Hanna-Leo Road from the south.

Members of the public who desire to travel this section of road between Seminoe State Park and the Miracle Mile before or after the temporary road closure do so at their own risk and are encouraged to use caution due to the condition of the road and the ongoing road repair activities.
