KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.
- The Bureau of Reclamation has released an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for internal water transfers within the Klamath
Project boundaries located in Klamath, Siskiyou and Modoc counties.
The lands potentially receiving Klamath Project water under approved transfers have been established as irrigated lands based on state water right filings
and water service contracts with Reclamation, and no new lands or lands outside the project would become irrigated as a result. No additional water would
be used other than what is currently outlined in the 2013 Joint Biological Opinion for the Operation of the Klamath Project. And, water transfers would be
limited to the 2016 through 2020 irrigation seasons.
The EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=21741. If you
