The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on Dec. 28, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Bureau of Reclamation has released an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for Shasta River Water Association’s Irrigation Water Measurement and Billing Accounting System Project.

Through a WaterSMART Water and Energy Efficiency Grant, Reclamation will provide financial assistance to SRWA to upgrade its current irrigation delivery infrastructure, install electronic flow metering equipment and implement a conservation billing system. The project, located in Siskiyou County, California, is anticipated to result in an annual water savings of 1,560 acre-feet where conserved water would remain in both the Shasta and Klamath rivers for instream benefits and downstream users.

The EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=27368. If you encounter problems accessing the documents, please call 916-978-5100 (TTY 800-877-8339) or email mppublicaffairs@usbr.gov.
