FRESNO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review the Draft Environmental Assessment and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact for the proposed City of Huron Land Use Authorization.
Reclamation would provide a land use authorization to the City of Huron for their conversion of 188 acres of Reclamation land to farm alfalfa. The city proposes this project in order to comply with the Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Waste Discharge Requirements to reduce nitrogen and other contaminants from the treated effluent from the City of Huron’s Waste Water Treatment Plant. The nearest available land adjacent to the city’s Treatment Plant, is owned by Reclamation, therefore the city has requested a land use authorization from Reclamation for their proposed project
