FOLSOM, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation’s Central California Area Office has selected Cynthia Davenport as the New Melones Lake Park Manager.

Davenport will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the recreation resources at New Melones Lake in Sonora, California. New Melones Lake offers boat launching, camping, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and many more outdoor recreation opportunities.

Davenport was born and raised in Fremont, California. One of her first jobs was working for East Bay Conservation Corps in Oakland, on restoration projects in parks and creeks. Later, while working for the Alameda County Clean Water Program, Davenport provided public education programs on reducing water pollution and gained her passion for environmental stewardship.

In 2005, Davenport moved to Sonora, California, to work for Reclamation as an administrative secretary at New Melones Lake. She was inspired to become a park ranger and attended Columbia College where she studied natural resources. Davenport went on to become a park ranger, supervisory park ranger, and park manager over the past 19 years of her federal career.

Davenport is married, has a wonderful husband, three children and three amazing grandchildren! When time allows for fun, Davenport and her husband enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, boating, and riding motorcycles with her family and friends.
