HEYBURN, Idaho - The Bureau of Reclamation is taking steps to address public safety and trespass concerns for the structural remains from Teton Dam. The Teton Dam site is located on the Teton River in Fremont County, three miles northeast of Newdale, Idaho. The dam site has been inoperative since June 5, 1976.
Incidents of vandalism and unauthorized access have occurred at several locations. These structures represent a high safety hazard, and unauthorized access could result in severe injury or death.
Reclamation would like to remind the public that abandoned tunnels and structures, as well as administrative areas are closed to public entry.
Reclamation will be working with local enforcement officials and other agencies to keep the public away from dangerous infrastructure and out of hazardous, confined spaces. Anyone found trespassing will be held accountable, and penalties may be enforced.
