The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on May 11, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation proposes to grant Alameda County Water District $750,000 for its Rubber Dam #3 Fish Ladder Project through a CALFED Water Use Efficiency Grant. The total project cost is $7.1 million.

The proposed action will improve anadromous fish passage in the urban reach of the Alameda Creek watershed while maintaining ACWD’s water supply operations at its groundwater recharge facilities. Construction includes modifying the dam’s foundation to incorporate a plunge pool for fish passage. ACWD will also replace the existing dam’s inflatable bag and make seismic related structural upgrades.

Reclamation prepared an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, available at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=33041. For questions on the project or to request a copy of the documents, please contact Nathaniel Martin at 916-978-6153 (TTY 800-877-8339) or nmartin@usbr.gov.
